One of my favourite flavours since a kid has been anything to do with blackberries!
I have great memories of picking blackberries in my grandparents hometown of Ballarat. We would go out to the back roads near Mt Buninyong and pick the berries in old billy cans. It was a precarious pastime avoiding the thorns but I loved it.
My Nanna would combine these berries with apples and simmer them away on the stove making Blackberry and Apple Jelly.
This was so delicious smothered on toast with butter!
This blackberry concoction with star anise and vanilla is another wonderful combination, made with berries from the D’Angelo berry farm in the Yarra Valley. It has a warm spicy aroma of vanilla and anise and is a delicious sweet syrup.
Combine with soda, ice and mint leaves, or splash into a vodka with soda for a summer afternoon treat.
